Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults Level 1

Course Type

About this course

Abuse is a violation of an individual’s human and civil rights by another person. Vulnerable adults, including the elderly and those with a mental or physical disability, are at a greater risk than others for all types of abuse, including financial exploitation and physical abuse.

Early identification and intervention are crucial to ensure the health, safety and well-being of vulnerable adults. Vulnerable Adults Level 1 uncovers the facts and provides a way forward for identifying and combatting the problem of abuse in vulnerable adults.

You will increase your awareness of the needs of and risks to vulnerable adults, the national and local context of safeguarding vulnerable adults, typical signs and symptoms of adult abuse, what to do if you are concerned about a vulnerable adult, reporting pathways and information-sharing provisions in safeguarding.
Upon successfully completing the course, you will have gained a greater understanding about the problem and scope of the abuse of vulnerable adults, as well as developing your own skills to be able to recognise and deal with abuse within your workplace and beyond.
